Waterfront Alliance Requests for Proposals for Design Services

The Waterfront Alliance of Portland Harbor (WAPH), a non-profit education and advocacy group serving the waterfronts of Portland and South Portland, Maine, requests the services of a competent graphic designer to produce an updated logo to represent the organization on digital and physical media.

The Opportunity: The Waterfront Alliance is searching for a professional graphic designer with:

  • Understanding of marine industry and/or Portland Harbor;

  • Willingness to collaborate with and answer to a small group of volunteers;

  • Ability to deliver product within a few weeks and within a modest nonprofit budget.

First Assignment: to create a new logo for the Waterfront Alliance. The Logo campaign will be for digital and print applications, including an embroidered logo for a cap. The new graphic image should be visually effectively and reproduce well at various scales in both color and black & white.

Additional Potential Work: On an hourly basis, or as may be negotiated for a fixed fee, the Waterfront Alliance may seek additional work from the selected designer to create better design consistency between the new logo, the existing website, and print media.

Application process and criteria for selection:

To apply submit the following materials via email to waterfrontallianceme@gmail.com by no later than February 12, 2021:

  • Name (individual and/or organization) plus email, address & telephone;

  • Brief (one-page or less) cover letter describing a possible design approach;

  • 3-5 examples of logos or portfolio work; and

  • Link to the designer’s website.

Budget: Fixed rate for delivery of approved logo and an hourly rate for additional work requested by WAPH.

After reviewing your initial submission materials, a review committee will contact a small number of designers with an invitation to submit additional materials for consideration.
